Comparison of animes between fall 2006

Here, I’m going to compare three of the most favourite/popular? animes for this fall season’06, Death Note and Code Geass. First off, you may find this weird, why compare this two anime, they seem to be very different. As for me, I don’t find them different, whereas, I find them very similar. Especially for Death Note and Code Geass.

Spoilers if you have not watched Death Note, Code Geass and D-gray man.

Death Note
what is it about:
Yagami Light finding a book, the Death Note, and planing to use it to rule the world.

More about the main character
Yagami Light, has a father and mother, a sister Sayu, aged 17, height 179. Has a high IQ
What he has to assist him to rule the world:
Death Note, Amane Misa, Kiyomi and someone.
originality of the show:
I would probably give it 80%, why? Because we hardly hear about a guy finding a book and then at first out of boredorm uses the book and turning evil because of it. But then, there’re more books, which made the originality of it decreases slightly. Shimigami here doesn’t do really much, other than Rem doing some stuff and Ryuk helping Light for that little while. I would’ve prefer to see Shimigami do more stuff then just be of comedy. character wise, L is one of a kind. I would probably change my opinon of it, in maybe when I see more of Death Note Anime. There’s also more than one version to this show as, there is a movie, manga for it.

Oh yes, Death Note Anime uses less girls as compared to D-grayman or Code Geass! And Death Note has ended while the other two shows are still airing, so this might not be a fair comparison too.

Code Geass
what is it about:
Lelouch being cornered and receiving a special power, GEASS from a mysterious lady, by the name of c.c, and planing to use it to defeat Britannia.
Originality:
I would give it 80% too, because it’s of a similar concept to Death Note, in my opinon anyway…. Lelouch using the Geass power is tricky since he can only use the power once on a person, very creative and it can be anything. And the geas, so far there’re only two people who can use it, C.C and Lelouch. Unlike Death Note, it is something that cannot be passed around to people, it is a power that only C.C and Lelouch have. And C.C’s Geass is very unique, even without direct contact, she can use Geass. hmm, you can say that I’m kind of biased towards it.

Lelouch V. Britannia, has a father who is the emperor of britainia, and he has a sister Nunally, and is at the age of 17. Height is 178cm. Has a high IQ.
Has what to assist him in defeating Britannia:
Geass, Order of the Black Knights-Kallen.

D-Gray Man
What is it about
Allen Walker is an Exorcist who tries to get the innocence before the millennium gets it.
More about the main character
Allen Walker lost both of his parents while young. Height 168cm at the age of 15. Has no siblings. IQ…. ???
Has what to assist him in defeating akuma:
His Innocence that is on his arm. Other exorcists at the headquarters of the Black Order.

Similarities
Death Note vs Code Geass
Death note is all about Light who has the Death Note is extremely clever but can be defeated, is seeking for power so as to rule the world and he has a sister.
Code Geass is all about Lelouch who has the Geass is very clever but can be defeated, is seeking for power so as to defeat Britannia and he has a sister. Both animes do focus on the eye… a lot.

Death Note uses less people as compared to Code Geass

Differences
Death Note vs Code Geass
Death Note doesn’t involve any fighting unlike Code Geass which uses Machines, and Light is a lot more careful with the planing unlike Lelouch but Lelouch is more human and his character is more likeable than Light.

Similarities
Death Note vs Code Geass vs D-grayman
All three main characters are guys with supporting lead female characters.

I’ll give some more comparisons soon, when I’ve the time For now, this is what we have and I can say that, I’m being very very biased towards Code Geass. This opens up to a lot more discussion!!!
